The Classroom of The Future

An alternative approach to classic classroom layout

This space was designed to serve as a multidisciplinary, team-taught, highly interactive learning unbound by traditionally built pedagogy.

The goal was providing  technologically advanced physical space to support learner-centered pedagogy, promotes flexibility, comfort, sensory stimulation, technical support, and de-centeredness for collaborative teaching and learning.

Three different layouts considered to fulfill different educational goals: learn lab layout, group layout, and lecture layout. The classroom can be converted to each of the layouts to better serve the lecturer’s purpose and back in a timely manner.

Beside the traditional classroom layout, this space can be arranged into two different extra layouts: learn lab, and group layout.

The two extra layouts add the following extra functionality to the traditional lecture layout:

  • Learn lab layout
    • Star shaped layout for better collaboration
    • including class and breakout zones
  • Group Layout
    • Encourages collaboration amongst peers
    • Moveable layout works within space
    • All screens are visible to students and teacher
